A cross-artform exploration of books and reading created by Amy Tsilemanis with Weave Length Productions.
Backspace Gallery July 13-28th, Open Tues -Sunday 10-4
Opening event Saturday July 13th 2-4 & lots of ways to get involved!
The Space Between is a gallery work inviting participation and engagement around the theme of books and reading. Through visual art, sound, and interactive elements, this show explores how books and knowledge are being experienced, stored, and shared amid technological advancements. Part love letter to books, part inquiry into the possibilities of digital, people can get involved with workshops, research materials, talks, a pop up library, and evolving artworks in both paper and digital forms.
Amy Tsilemanis creates unique interactive projects with her company Weave Length Productions. Past works include 407 Finch St, a multimedia installation in a vacant house (2010), and Ballarat Railway Station Theatrical Audio Tours (2011/12).
The Space Between involves mentorship with local artists Barry Wemyss and Erin McCuskey and is supported by the Ballarat Library, Ballaarat Mechanics Institute, and UB Centre of eCommerce and Communication (CeCC). The exhibition will also see the Huyghue House Outdoor Book Exchange trialled.
